Uga Carlini

Multi-award winning filmmaker Uga Carlini has fast become one of South Africa's most versatile and celebrated directors. Her extensive film experience boasts a career that’s stretched across South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia and Fiji. She is also the founding partner and President of Towerkop Creations. Her debut film, Alison, won several awards, including Best Documentary at the Asia Pacific International Film Festival, and Best Documentary at the Humanitarian Film Awards. Uga was also the 2018 award winner for the World of Women’s Cinema award at the WOW Middle East Film Festival. Her first short film “Good Planets are Hard to Find” swept up awards internationally, including the PUMA Catalyst Audience Award at the 2012 Sustain our Africa Film Festival and was selected to be part of Berlin's 2011 InterFilm Shorts Competition.
