Palestinian superstar Salim Daw, Gaza Mon Amour’s leading actor and winner of Best Actor award at Malmö Arab Film Festival, Sweden, and Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Turkey, extends his thanks to Egyptian audiences who celebrated his film. This comes after the film screened for 10 consecutive weeks at Zawya cinema since its release last August.
Gaza Mon Amour was awarded several international awards as well as represented Palestine’s official nomination to the Oscars.
"I am proud that the film screened in Cairo for over two and a half months. I find this encouraging. I would like to thank Cairo audience for the love they showed towards the film and me personally. I was very pleased when twin brothers Tarzan and Arab Nasser contacted me. Sharing a common language and feelings made me even happier. I consider Gaza Mon Amour a major milestone in my artistic career. I’ve always thought that the directors are geniuses. When I read the script, I expected that the film would be a success. It won, in fact, many international awards,” said Salim Daw.
"I’ve received tons of messages from people praising the film, and I think the film has more miles to cross with such huge success. I hope that the film will be a landmark of Palestinian cinema as well as the Arab one. I will always carry Gaza Mon Amour in my heart, wherever I go,” he added.
Screening Times of Gaza Mon Amour at Zawya Cinema, during next week, will be as follows: Wednesday, 6 October, at 9:30 PM; Thursday, at 7:00PM; Friday, at 9:30 PM; Sunday, at 4:00 PM & 9:30 PM; Monday, at 7:00 PM and Tuesday, at 10:00 PM.
It has recently been released at UAE’s theatres and is slated to release soon at Jordan’s cinemas.
The film landed its world premiere at Venice International Film Festival and scooped several international awards, including the NETPAC award at Toronto International Film Festival, the Best Film award at Cairo International Film Festival and the Best Film and Best Script awards at the Valladolid International Film Festival.
Gaza, today, sixty-year-old fisherman Issa is secretly in love with Siham, a woman who works as a dressmaker at the market. Finally determined to propose, Issa discovers an ancient statue of Apollo in his fishing net, which he decides to hide at home. When local authorities discover the existence of this mysterious treasure, troubles start for Issa…Will he succeed to declare his love to Siham?
Directed by the Nasser brothers, Gaza Mon Amour features an all-star cast, including Salim Daw, Hiam Abbass, Maisa Abdelhadi, Georges Iskandar, Hitham Al Omari, and Manal Awad. MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution in the Arab world.
