AUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN and I’M NOT LAKIT Screen at Lebanese Film Festival in Australia

MAD Solutions joins the 10th edition of The Lebanese Film Festival in Australia, which runs from 25 August to 10 September, with two films, DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN, by Zaid Abu Hamdan and  Maria Ivanova Z’s documentary I’M NOT LAKIT. 
 
DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN will have two screenings during the festival, the first on Saturday, August 27, at 7 p.m. (GMT +10). The second screening will be on Saturday 10 September at 7 pm. While Maria Ivanova Z’s documentary I’M NOT LAKIT will be screened on Friday, August 26 at 7:15 pm.

About DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN:
The film recently won the Audience Award for Best Feature Film (Golden Lynx Fiction) at FEST – New Directors /New Films Festival in Portugal and won the Audience Award at San Diego Arab Film Festival, USA. The film landed its world premiere at Cairo International Film Festival where it won the Audience Award (Youssef Cherif Rizkallah Award) and was screened at Beirut International Women Film Festival, where it won a special mention and the first edition of Red Sea International Film Festival (Arab Spectacular Section). It was also the opening film of Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden.
 
The film follows the storyline of Zainab who wakes up to a shocking discovery that could defame her in the neighborhood. She quickly calls for her sister’s aid. Yet, fiery Amaal has her own secret struggle and is not having her sister Samah, who is too busy to be there. Meanwhile, Khitam tries to focus on her own mission.
 
Written and directed by Zaid Abu Hamdan, DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN stars Saba Mubarak, Farah Bsaiso, Hanan Al Hilo, Mariam Al Basha, and Khalid Al Tarifi. It is produced by Pan East Media (Saba Mubarak & Aya Wuhoush), Lagoonie Film Production, Wika Production and Distribution, and Arab Media Network. About I’M NOT LAKIT:
The film follows the story of Saleh, a man who lives in an old house in the mountains near the Lebanese city of Byblos. Saleh does not belong to a family or a religious sect, in a society where such criteria define a human being. Worse, he lacks nationality and a passport, he even lacks the right to live his life as an ordinary citizen since he is labeled as a 'lakit' of unknown ancestry.
 
Written and directed by Maria Ivanova Z, the film landed its world premiere at Beirut International Women Film Festival. Produced by Né à beyrouth Films and Avanpost Media, and shot by Marius Panduru, the film stars Father Majdi Allawi, Jean Paul Salameh, Ali Hssein Fakih and Mohamad Ali. MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution in the Arab world.
