Alaa Mahmoud is an Egyptian director that graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema, Egypt. 

Her short film WHO CHOOSES? was selected for the Sharm El-Sheikh Film Festival (2019) and the Très Court International Film Festival (2019). 

She also directed the 2016 short film BALLOON. Her short film, 1+1, was selected to compete in the official competition of the Aswan International Women Film Festival. 

Furthermore, Mahmoud received the Best Short Film Award at the Dubai Media Incorporated Mobile Short Film.
