Jerome Cohen Olivar
Jerome spent most of his childhood in Morocco, where he attempted to shoot small horror films, including LITTLE HORROR MOVIE, before leaving for Los Angeles. There, he studied at the University of California and later at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. He then completed shooting his first short film SUSAN SUSAN — a satire on illegal immigration to the US — which was purchased by Disney. He also produced UNVEILED, which was his first feature film, and COOL CRIME — a dark comedy about a group of ghosts roaming the streets of Los Angeles.
COOL CRIME opened the Palm Springs Film Festival, won the Students Jury Award at the Milan Film Festival, and led the director to sign with the talent agency CAA. In 2008, he directed KANDISHA — a fantasy film based on the 14th-century Moroccan legend AÃSHA KANDISHA. The film won several awards, including the FIPRESCI prize at the Brussels International Film Festival. In 2014, Oren Peli — the filmmaker behind the international blockbuster PARANORMAL ACTIVITY — picked up Jerome’s old project LITTLE HORROR MOVIE. Unable to stand the film being stuck in development hell, Jerome decided to reclaim his script and produce it himself. Jerome is currently working on several projects, including the highly anticipated AUTISTO.
