Ahmed Messoudi
Ahmed Messoudi is a director and screenwriter from Tangier, Morocco. After graduating from the ESAV Film School with a master's in screenwriting and directing in 2011, he quickly established himself as an emerging force in the film industry.
In 2013, Ahmed directed PIÉTÀ — a thought-provoking short documentary that highlights the challenges faced by divorced women. The film was well-received and screened at film festivals in Switzerland and Senegal.
Two years later, Ahmed captivated audiences with his poignant short film LAYLA, which tells the story of an elderly couple's last days together.
The film was selected for the prestigious 14th Marrakech International Film Festival, cementing Ahmed's reputation as a promising director.
With extensive experience as an assistant director on Moroccan and international film sets, Ahmed returned to directing in 2017 with FROM CASA TO MARSEILLE, and in 2019 he directed WHISPER OF THORNS.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Ahmed continued to push forward, and in 2022, he directed the award-winning film BENEATH HER LIPSTICK.
This powerful film won the Jury Prize at the Tangier National Film Festival and went on to win several awards at international festivals, including the Korean International Short Film Festival and the Boden International Film Festival.
He also worked as an assistant director on a number of ads and TV shows such as EL-KHANKA (2016) and SURFACE-TO-AIR (2017).
