Abdelwahab Shawky

Abdelwahab Shawky is an Egyptian director born in Beni Suef in 1989 who studied film directing in various workshops with acknowledged filmmakers.
His journey in the industry began as a film critic, contributing to several publications. Subsequently, he transitioned to working as an assistant director, collaborating with renowned filmmakers such as Khaled Marie, Hatem Ali, Amjad Abu Alala, and Yousry Nasrallah.
Shawky's significant role as a first assistant director in Amjad Abu Alala's YOU WILL DIE AT TWENTY, earned critical acclaim, including the Lion of the Future Award at the Venice Film Festival.
He also contributed to various TV series, including MNWARA BAHLAHA, EL ANISA FARAH, and KAENO EMBAREH.
In addition to his assistant director roles, Shawky served as a script supervisor for KAENO EMBAREH and played production roles in HAGAR GOHANAM and LAF WE DAWRAN.
He further extended his involvement in the television industry with contributions to AL AHD.
Currently, he is serving as a first assistant director in the upcoming film MY FATHER'S SCENT by Mohamed Siam.
