Rana Salem
Rana Salem graduated in 2004 from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts with a major in Audio Visual and Cinema studies at the top of her class. Her graduation film won the Best Lebanese student short film in 2005 and was screened in various festivals including the European film festival and the Med-film festival in Rome.
Along these years, she has also directed several of her own short films including “Where to?”(Short fiction), “ First floor right” (Short Fiction), “The Red Balloon” (Short animation), “Window” (Short fiction) and “Essay from a room” (Short documentary) screened in various festivals in Beirut and abroad including Sydney Arab film festival, the Tribecca Film Festival in New York and CPH-DOX in Denmark.
“The Road”, her first feature fiction film, written, directed and produced by her, in which she plays the lead female character was awarded the FIPRESCI prize at The Moscow International Film Festival in 2015.
