
Andrés and Francisca Khamis Giacoman`s work seeks to explore and portray the nuances of the Palestinian diaspora in Chile. Baisanos is their first film working together as directors.
Andrés Khamis Giacoman, based in Barcelona, currently works as a film editor, although much of his previous work has been in Chile, focusing on migration issues. There, he co-founded an organization
dedicated to fostering the proper inclusion of migrants in the country. He holds a degree in Administration from Universidad
Adolfo Ibáñez, Santiago (2012–2017), and a postgraduate degree in Audiovisual Editing from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona. Since relocating to Barcelona in 2023, he has continued his training in documentary filmmaking at La Casa del Cine.
Francisca Khamis Giacoman is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. Her practice, through the mediums of video art, performance, and installation, explores fragmented diasporic memories, oral traditions, and the fluid nature of time. Her work
has been presented internationally at venues such as Abu Dhabi Art, de Appel (Amsterdam), ExtraCity (Antwerp), Rozenstraat (Amsterdam), Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam), Kunstverein (Amsterdam), Stroom (The Hague), Biblioteka (London), and
Gold+Beton (Cologne), among others. Rooted in video art, her filmography includes Forbidden Colors (2012–21), Formas de Volver (2019), No te olvides de mí (2019), As Close As I Get (2021),
and 31°42’49.5”N 35°10’13.9”E. Her films have been screened at the London Short Film Festival, Biennial of Media Arts (Santiago), Filmfest Dresden, Leiden Film Festival, De Uitkijk (Amsterdam), House of Annetta (London), as well as on platforms such as ArtTV and ArtViewer.
