Salem returns to the Zabaleen district of Manshiyet Nasser after a long absence, finding his father defeated by life and his sister married to an ambitious recycling businessman. Entrusted with a family pig farm, Salem flourishes as he reconnects with his community and breathes life back into his fractured home.

However, when the swine flu pandemic ignites political and social panic in Cairo, the state orders the immediate eradication of all pigs. With his neighborhood turned into a battleground, Salem must risk everything to protect his community’s survival.
