12 February 2023
Khadija Kudsi's short film SUHAIL won the Best Short Film Award at the Al-Ain Film Festival on Saturday, February 11th. This follows its world premiere at the festival in the Falcon GCC Short Film Competition.

In a statement released after his acceptance of the award, Kudsi said: "Suhail was the sweetest and kindest boy I ever met, and his story deserves to be told. This win belongs not only to me but also to my team, who worked extremely hard alongside me to make it happen. Also, thank you to SUHAIL's family for making this film so special. I am so proud and happy. Words cannot express how grateful I am."

The film's story is set in the beautiful mountains of Fujairah, where a boy named Suhail suffers from autism. Through interviews with Suhail's family members, teachers, and therapists, the film uncovers more about the young man's life and his strengths and weaknesses.

SUAHIL stars Suhail Al-Sharqi, Michele Ziolkowski, and Abdullah Al-Sharqi. It is produced by Salma Azam, edited by Roberto Risto, and lensed by Saad Aldin.
