Lady of Nazareth School Graduates Club to hold special screening of Hanadi Elyan’s SALMA’S HOME at Jordan’s Rainbow Theater

In a joint celebration of both International Women's Day and Mother’s Day, Jordan’s Lady of Nazareth School Graduates Club will be holding a special screening of Hanadi Elyan’s Jordanian drama SALMA’S HOME at the Rainbow Theater in Amman.
To support Jordanian cinema and introduce the club’s graduates to Jordanian film and its development over the years, the film will screen on Tuesday, March 5th, at 7 pm, with veteran Jordanian actress Juliet Awwad attending as a special guest.
The film — which World premiered at the Cinequest Film and Creativity Festival, where it snagged a Global Vision Award for Best Feature Film — has also been released at Jordan’s Taj Cinemas and is available to stream on Netflix.
Previously, SALMA’S HOME screened at the Atlanta, Malmö Arab, Heartland International, and Boston Palestine film festivals. It also screened at the Arab Film Festival at the Arab American National Museum and the Austin Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.
Additionally, the film was lauded by Israa Radaydeh of Jordan News as “one of those films that makes you laugh, cry, and learn — how to love and cherish family and count your blessings,” and by Emilie Black of Cinema Crazed, who called it “a carefully crafted drama that feels like home.”
The film follows three Arab women living in modern-day Jordan who must put their differences aside and work together.
Wherein, after Bakri’s passing, his ex-wife, daughter, and new wife are shocked to find out that the only way they can guarantee their share of the inheritance is to live together under one roof.
Written, edited, and directed by Hanadi Elyan, the film was lensed by Marcus Patterson and produced by Nathan Bennett of Reel LA Productions with Arab World sales handled by MAD Solutions.
The film stars veteran Jordanian actress Juliet Awwad, alongside beloved British Jordanian actresses Rania Kurdi and Sameera Asir, as well as Firas Taybeh and Waleed Jizawi.
Writer and director Hanadi Elyan is a Jordanian Palestinian filmmaker whose work focuses on the social issues facing marginalized communities from a female perspective.
Elyan started her film career in Jordan, then she moved to Dubai and established Reel Arab Productions. Later, she moved to Los Angeles after being selected for a full-ride scholarship and completed her MFA in Film Production and Directing from UCLA.
So far, she’s won numerous awards for her work, including the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Award, Delia Salvi Memorial Award, Special Jury Award at the Tangiers Film Festival for MARIAM'S CHANCE, George Burns and Gracie Allen Scholarship Fellowship in Comedy, and UCLA Directors’ Spotlight Award.
