Etjaar Baamer’s Saudi short flick IN BETWEEN is set to hold its European premiere at the Italian Middle East Now Festival, running from October 15th to the 20th
Written and directed by Ithar Baamer, with a mesmerizing score by Zach McNeil, this abstract Saudi animation depicts a woman's journey through her twenties as she navigates societal expectations in the quest for self-discovery. Overcoming challenges, she forges her path to self-realization as the lines between reality and fantasy are blurred, relying on her authenticity to guide her toward her true self.
The film had its world premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival before going on to participate in the 10th Saudi Film Festival and 11th Tripoli Film Festival.
Ithar Baamer is a Saudi artist and animation director who has a master's in fine arts and animation design from the Pratt Institute in New York. She deeply values her Saudi culture and heritage and constantly seeks to integrate them into her work. The goal of her work is to translate subconscious thoughts into something tangible.
